Florian. AD 276. Antoninianus 25mm, 4.28 g. Rome mint. Struck AD 276. Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / Providentia standing facing, head left, holding baton and cornucopia; globe at feet to left; XXIA. RIC V 37. Good Very Fine, toned silvering.

Florian, half-brother of Tacitus, ruled briefly after his brother’s death. His reign lasted only a few months before he was overthrown by Probus. Despite its brevity, Florian’s coinage is widespread and features standard themes of Virtus, Victory, and Sol Invictus, aimed at legitimizing his authority during a contested succession.
